Livingston
Parish Humane Societies are the
following: Lucky Puppy Rescue, Denham Springs Animal Shelter, Capital
Area Animal Welfare Society, and the SPCA of Livingston.
Lucky Puppy Rescue is located in Denham Springs
and they serve Livingston Parish, East Baton
Rouge Parish, Jefferson Parish, and Orleans
Parish. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate,
and place stray and abandoned dogs. As a foster
program all adopted animals are required to be
inside pets. The new owner must sign an adoption
agreement, must agree to a home inspection and
must have a secure fenced-in yard.
Capital Area Animal Welfare (CAAWS) is a private
non-profit organization. The Capital Area Animal
Welfare promotes practice of spay/neuter, teaches
the community responsible pet ownership, and
adopts homeless animals. In their mission to
provide animals with the placement of permanent,
responsible, loving homes they place their pets
in foster homes. In their efforts to effort to
reduce the pet overpopulation problem, Capital
Area Animal Welfare offers discount certificates
for spay/neuter procedures.
SPCA of Livingston is an all volunteer rescue
serving the entire parish of Livingston. The SPCA
of Livingston is set to aid in the opening of
Livingston Parish Shelter on Hwy. 190 -
Livingston, in 2009.
Small Animal Rescue is a 501c3, non-profit organization working to Rescue and Rehabilitate animals and we Educate people on the importance of Spay/Neuter as well as basic animal care in Livingston parish. We offer free age appropriate classes to the public on animal safety and care.
